Created by Albertsons Companies, Inc., it helps shoppers save money on their next grocery with weekly coupons and sale information. It also lets them scan barcodes on items to check for product information and build their shopping list. In addition to that, it offers rewards upon registration, which they can redeem on participating stations.
What is Safeway?
Safeway is not an online shopping app. It does not allow its user to buy anything through their mobile phones. What it does is provide discount coupons on various products, which they can then use upon checkout on their next grocery. It offers weekly coupons of up to $300 weekly that you can browse and save. On top of coupons, users can also check sale announcements so they can plan their next grocery day.
Additionally, it allows you to scan barcodes of products to see information, such as prices, expiration dates, and more. You can then add those items to your grocery list, which you can consult when shopping. The application even allows you to add items that are not on the weekly ads or Club Specials. As noted, Safeway offers gas rewards to first-time users, which you can redeem at participating stores.
But while the software helps you save money, getting around it can be frustrating. The app is a little unintuitive that you need to click on various tabs to create your grocery list or save your coupons. More, it does not update your saved coupons, so the expired ones remain on your account. However, the biggest drawback of using it is the fact that it frequently crashes. This can be annoying, especially when you are at the checkout counter.

Safeway is a handy app to have if you wish to save money the next time you shop for groceries. It provides discount coupons on various products and even informs you of the next sale. You can also create a grocery list by scanning products on the weekly ads provided. The program is a little hard to navigate, though, and it crashes far too frequently than we would have liked.
